Weaving parts
# 10 Music video and two poetry books
Dear friends,
with a smile on my face I welcome the spring sun dancing on my nose as I write these lines to you. I hope you’ve also been able to collect a few rays of sunshine during these past bright and warm days.
Yesterday, Breathe, the first single from my upcoming EP, was released. The song is about unwept tears of youth, the challenge of revealing them and how good it feels to be held by someone in that process.
The video to the song is a small best-practice example of DIY. The camera work was done by Joana Post, Felix Brückner, and myself (the three of us were quite new to this kind of work — thanks a lot to both for jumping into that cold water with me!). I also took care of the editing and color grading. It was my first time doing this, and it felt quite empowering to be able to make a music video with just a little help on my on.
Here you can see the result of this little adventure:
There is another part of my creative life I want to share with you today. Since my teenage years, I have been regularly writing thoughts, poems, lyrics, and small fragments into tiny notebooks. I call them Figurenbücher.
During the pandemic, I wrote so many poems that I eventually decided to turn them into a book. Luckily, the wonderful photographer and dear friend Amélie Chapalain joined the project, and together we created Wellenberge – Analoge Gedichte (2021), a poetry book accompanied by her beautiful analogue photographs. Until now, we only printed a small handful of copies and shared them with friends and family. For the concerts, I printed 50 new copies that I’ll have with me on the road.
In February, I digitised all the poems and short texts I have written since then — around 150 in total — and decided to create a second poetry book: Zwischenträume (2026). Just yesterday, I sent the files to the printer.
For the upcoming concerts, I’ve decided to weave some of these poems into the music. It feels like bringing together two parts of myself and letting them meet on stage. I’m excited to see how this will feel.
In addition to the poems and a lot of new music, you’ll also have the chance to get one of my Breathe bags at the concerts. Their history of origin is another small DIY story to tell: together with my brother Hoope (thanks to his multiple support!), I screen-printed 80 bags in four different colors. Each bag contains a small inlay with a download link to the five songs from the new EP Breathe — and a dried leaf symbolizing the vulnerability and beauty of nature.

Warmly
MJ
